Family Learning Made Fun during Covid-19 Social Distancing

This isn't my usual content, light hearted and beauty related, but this is real life. What our world is going through right now with COVID-19 has brought things to a halt, including school for our kids. With that, most parents are now home with their kids and trying to find some sort of daily schedule that includes learning activities, playtime, and sanity for the parents working from home... myself included. I had asked on my Instagram stories recently if compiling a list of resources we have found for fun learning activities would be helpful and it was a resounding YES! So, here we go! I will start by sharing our general daily schedule below. Keep in mind, this is a very LOOSE outline and our days flex and change as the needs of our kids change. Life isn't perfect so don't feel the pressure to fit into a "perfect outline" for your day. Give yourself grace and just know, you are doing your best!

Fun and affordable learning games/activities from Amazon:

Learning Resources Mental Blox $16.29

This game teaches kids to learn about patterns, following instructions and learning to stack and balance objects. My kids were so entertained by this and both my 4yo and 6yo were able to play this game. It was fun because they also started to work together to solve the puzzles! There are 39 different cards/configurations to work through and you can also come up with different challenges for older kids.

Zingo Sight Word Game $19.99

This is perfect for kids grades pre-k through second grade that are learning to read. It is a bingo style game that helps make learning sight words fun for kids. My 6yo gets overwhelmed with learning sometimes and intimidated by things she views as "hard" or "new" but this she loved because it seemed more like play than what she would consider boring learning. A mom's gotta do, what a mom's gotta do!

Likee Alphabet Flashcard Puzzle $20.60

This item in particular is perfect for my 4yo still working on learning her ABCs and numbers. She LOVES this activity and has actually requested to play it daily since we got it. The cards are nice and sturdy as are the letters and numbers plus even better for parents. it comes in its own sturdy bin to keep clean up and storage super easy!! Highly recommend this one!

Monkey Balance Math Game $19.99

This game is another one that is popular with both my 6yo and 4yo and that they can play together! This involves math, counting and balance plus the little monkey weights are super cute! They have to work out identifying the number and can watch exactly how many monkeys it takes to balance the scale.

Science Kit $13.96

This was a special gift from my Mom for the kids that she had shipped to our house which was a fun surprise! Thanks Mom!! My 6yo LOVES, and I mean LOVES science and experiments. She got a microscope for Christmas, seriously. This kit contains 11 activities and we do them together as a family. We are doing ONE per day to make sure this kit lasts as long as possible for us. If you have kiddos that love science, this is perfect for them!

Hope you all have found some resources here that will help your family and give you great activities to stay busy (and sane). Stay healthy my friends! Sending all our love!
