Is collagen a fountain of youth?

Is collagen truly the fountain of youth?

Collagen is the most abundant protein in your body. It is the main component of cartilage, ligaments, tendons, bone, and teeth. But I am a skincare guru so let’s get down to what you and I really care about… 𝗦𝗞𝗜𝗡!

Your skin isn’t deteriorating simply because of your college partying, though being dehydrated is not helping. Around 20 your skin’s 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲. Yep! THAT YOUNG!!! So when I say you should start anti-aging products young, I mean it. Taking preventative measures in your skincare and healthy supplements will not make aging inevitable, but it will help slow the process of signs of skin aging.

Collagen is what supports your skin’s elasticity keeping your appearance youthful and plump.

So what to do?? There are two ways, you can help boost collagen production internally and externally. Here is how:

Start with a collagen supplement daily. There are a plethora of collagen supplements on the market and I have tried many. Some with results, some lackluster. My tried and true favorite is Vital Proteins Original Collagen Peptides

  • 20g Collagen: Helps support overall health & wellness**

  • 100% Daily Value Vitamin C: An antioxidant vitamin that can help promote collagen production and a youthful appearance**

  • 80mg Hyaluronic Acid: Sourced from sodium hyaluronate for improved bioavailability

  • Easy To Use: Soluble in hot or cold liquids, including coffee and smoothies

It seriously is a great and super easy addition that will make a big difference over time! It comes in two sizes, 10oz $24.98 for or the 20oz for $42.98

The second thing you can do is stimulate natural collagen production with your skincare. I said 𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗘, collagen itself is too large of a molecule to absorb topically so we stimulate collagen production. Slathering pure collagen on your face isn’t going to do anything but waste your money. So beware of skincare creams that say collagen can be applied topically because that is nothing but a big fat marketing gimmick!

Look for one or more of these ingredients in your night creams, also night is the best time for your skin to restore so do not skimp:

- Vitamin C/Ascorbic Acid

- Colloidal gold

- Retinoids/Vitamin A

- Vitamin E

- Hyaluronic Acid (𝗦𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗛𝘆𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 is the BEST!)

Without HA to retain the water in your skin cell collagen production simply will not take place. These two go together like peanut butter and jelly.

Here are a few of my favorite skincare products that help stimulate collagen production.

Age Reversist All Night Beauty Mask:

Contains 3 of the power ingredients, vitamin C, absorbic acid and gold, to help increase collagen production by over 52%. Apply this as a last step to your night time routine as a luxurious feeling with it's cool gel texture leaving with you with smooth, hydrated and radian skin!

Next up is one of my newest skincare faves that I use for my daytime skincare and that is the Aqua Hydrating Skincare Line. Each of these contain my favorite collagen building ingredient, Hylauronic Acid as well as a powerful mix of sea water, patcH20, and Sodum PCA.

You can purchase the set as a whole for $115 and save yourself some $$ or you can purchase them separately as well.
